With 11 Olympic medals under her belt and countless other accolades, Allyson Felix has been a staple in track and field — scratch that, athletics — for decades. In honor of Felix’s final goodbye to the sport, Athleta is celebrating her legacy and advocacy work this August by hosting a Race For Child Care in Los Angeles.

Felix, who has also been a vocal advocate for athletes with children, mothers, and Black maternal health, will join Athleta on Aug. 7 in LA for one last run. Those interested in joining Felix for her last lap can register online for the event and get access to live music, special brand experiences, and more on the day of the event. But the fun starts even before that with packet pickup on Aug. 5 accompanied by a panel with Felix.

The race isn’t just one big party (although it clearly will be that!); it’s meant to bring the community together with the Olympian and advocate. What’s more, it will raise both awareness and money for accessible child care, too. Supporting and raising awareness about the inequities in the child-care system in the workplace has been a cause Athleta has been working to bring to the forefront all summer — the brand recently opened another round of the Power of She Fund Child Care grants for mom athletes with the Women’s Sports Foundation, which has granted over $200,000 to mom athletes in child-care support.

Athleta also partnered with the organization &Mother (where Felix sits on the board of directors) to provide on-site child care for all athletes, coaches, and staff at the USA Track & Field Championships in Eugene, OR, in June. Now, with the Allyson Felix Race For Change, Athleta is continuing its mission to support equity for women in the workplace via accessible child care for athletes.

Even if you can’t make the race in LA, you can still donate to support the cause and shop the latest Athleta x Allyson Felix collection to look the part. The collection has been codesigned by Felix and features fitness and life-ready clothing for both women and girls. Shop five of our favorites from the collection ahead.
