I love a good exercise dress or pair of running shorts as much as the next girl, but if there’s no shorts liner underneath, I’ll pass. Whether I’m going on a run or just out for errands in the summer heat, there’s nothing more uncomfortable than when my thighs rub together and start to chafe. Luckily, I have found the perfect solution that doesn’t sacrifice the cuteness factor: skorts! They’ve become a massive trend, thanks to TikTok, so my newest obsession is right in line with what’s cool this summer.

I’ve tested out several skorts, but my favorite (and most-worn) piece at the moment is the Old Navy High-Waisted PowerSoft Skort ($25 with code BONUS, originally $33). The shorts underneath don’t ride up or move around, so it’s by far the comfiest choice. I like to wear mine with cropped tees, such as the Core 10 Soft Pima Cotton Knot-Front Cropped Yoga Tank ($22) pictured above. It looks great with my Lululemon Blissfeel Running Shoes ($148), but I’ll also wear it with slides when I’m not working out. If you want the details on my new favorite skort, keep reading.

What I Like About This Old Navy Skort

I’ll start with the feature I love most: the hidden pocket. The shorts under this skort (which, as I mentioned, never ride up, even during a sweaty tennis sesh) have a pocket big enough for my iPhone 12 Pro Max. The brand’s PowerSoft fabric is buttery smooth, with just a little bit of compression — the skort doesn’t feel tight, but it’s snug enough to stay on my hips without me feeing the need to pull it up. The fabric is quick-drying, so if I’m exercising, I’m not soaked in sweat all day long.

What’s Worth Noting

This skort is true to size — I’m wearing my usual large, and the cut is perfect on me. The high-waisted silhouette sits at the top of my hips just above my bellybutton. The skort is on the shorter side, so if you prefer a longer, more modest length, I’d size up. I would also suggest looking at the 200-plus customer reviews (the vast majority of which are a perfect five stars!) to see how the skort looks on various body types.

Who Is This Skort Best For?

I think this skort could work for anyone. Whether you love to hit the courts for a workout or just want something comfy to hang out in this summer, I would recommend this piece to anybody. I like that I can wear it with my sports bra and sneakers or put it on with an oversized sweatshirt and my slide sandals. It’s a versatile piece that will get a ton of use.

Additional Details

  • This skort comes in sizes XS-4X.
  • There’s a flattering darting detail on each side of the hip area.
  • The fabric is 81 percent polyester and 19 percent spandex. The directions say to machine wash cold and hang dry, but I’ve put mine in the dryer a couple of times without problems.
  • The skort comes in seven different colors: pink, light blue, rust, lavender, white, navy blue, and black.
