If you are looking for a high quality supplement to help you perform at your best, you should try Bodybuilding.Com Elite Thermo + BCAA. This formulation has gone through a rigorous certification process by Informed Sport to ensure the quality of its ingredients and that it is banned substance tested (1). This product stands above the many commercial sports nutrition products that are potentially contaminated with banned substances or dangerous chemicals (2)(3)(4).

This formulation provides you with several ingredients to enhance your exercise performance so that you can burn as many calories as possible:

  • 5,000 mg of Micronized BCAA 2:1:1
  • 1,500 mg of Carnipure™ (L-Carnitine Tartrate)
  • 250 mg of MitoBurn® (L-Baiba)
  • 150 mg of Natural Caffeine (from Camellia sinensis)
  • 40 mg of Grains of Paradise (Aframomum Melegueta)
  • 150 mg of Raw Coconut Water

5,000 mg Micronized BCAA 2:1:1

Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) are important for athletes because of their potential role in protein synthesis, energy regulation, and muscle recovery (5). BCAAs are composed of three essential amino acids: leucine, isoleucine, and valine. Leucine helps regulate muscle protein synthesis (6). Isoleucine helps protein and fat metabolism by transporting glucose (7). Valine helps assist in the stimulation of muscle regeneration (8). Within this formula, a 2:1:1 ratio was used due to that being the same ratio present in food. A meta-analysis of scientific literature showed that BCAA supplementation activates anabolic signals and helps recovery by attenuating muscle damage and ameliorating muscle soreness (9)(10). By consuming 5,000 mg of BCAA’s, you can increase your amino acid availability for accelerated protein synthesis, muscle growth, and fat metabolism (11).

1,500 mg Carnipure™ (L-Carnitine Tartrate)

Carnipure™ (L-Carnitine Tartrate) is a compound made by the human body that helps break down fat into energy by transporting fatty acids into the mitochondria of your cells (12). Carnitine can be consumed through red meat, dairy products, avocados, and soybeans (13). However, many people are not able to consume enough through their diet, thereby making fat metabolism more difficult. A meta-analysis of scientific literature found that a daily dose of 1,500 mg or more of carnitine maximized weight and fat loss in adults (14)(15). Studies have shown that carnitine supplementation can improve exercise performance, increase muscle mass, decrease muscle soreness, and boost cognitive function, especially in vegetarians, overweight individuals, and older adults (16)(17). Also, carnitine can help BCAA metabolism, making it a perfect complement to this supplement (18).

250 mg of MitoBurn® (L-Baiba)

L-Baiba is an amino acid metabolite of L-valine, which is produced by skeletal muscle during exercise (19). MitoBurn® is a trademarked supplement containing high quality L-Baiba. L-Baiba has been found to help change white fat into thermal regulating brown fat (20). A 250 mg dose of Baiba was able to safely elevate blood plasma levels in humans (21)(22). Baiba supplementation can help regulate carbohydrate and fat metabolism, increase energy expenditure, improve insulin sensitivity, decrease body fat, and improve overall body composition (20).

150 mg of Natural Caffeine (from Camellia sinensis)

The 150 mg of caffeine in this supplement comes from the plant camellia sinensis, which is commonly used to make tea. Caffeine has been scientifically proven to boost your aerobic and anaerobic performance by increasing your muscular endurance, power output, high-intensity interval training, and resistance to fatigue (23)(24)(25)(26).

40 mg of Grains of Paradise (Aframomum Melegueta)

Grains of Paradise, also known as alligator pepper or its scientific name of Aframomum melegueta, is a spice with a similar composition to ginger (27). A placebo controlled study found that a 40 mg oral dose of grains of paradise was able to increase energy expenditure through activation of brown adipose tissue in human subjects (28). A double blind study involving a total of 70 men and women found that supplementation with grains of paradise resulted in significant loss in body weight by increasing energy and reducing visceral fat (29). Therefore, supplementation may be an effective and safe tool for reducing overall body fat, by preventing visceral fat accumulation (30).

150 mg Raw Coconut Water

Coconut water is rich in electrolytes, vitamins, minerals, cytokinins, and proteins with a long historical use for hydration, anti-aging, antimicrobial, and energy enhancement (31). Coconut water is an alkaline beverage with high levels of potassium and glucose, making it an important alternative for oral rehydration compared to sports drinks (32)(33). In a study comparing coconut water to carbohydrate-electrolyte sport drink, both were found to have similar effects on hydration (34).
